PHILIPSBURG - Plans are underway for the third annual St. Maarten Lions Club Health and Wellness Fair to br held in the Festival Village on Saturday, March 26. The organising committee met last week Saturday to discuss and distribute tasks among the membership, including the contacting of stakeholders and participants and review of logistics. Health Committee Chairperson, Lion Wally Havertong stated, "there is a lot of planning involved. It is important that all stakeholders, including the government's Health Department, Diabetes Foundation, insurance and medical services providers, White and Yellow Cross, Divico Distributors, Mental Health Foundation among others, get on board as early as possible to guarantee the success of the fair for a third consecutive time.
"The fair has proven to be a medium through which all people from all walks of life can obtain information on health issues, get tested free of charge and ultimately can take steps to get additional professional help or simply live a more healthy life based on the principles and information provided by the relevant stakeholders. I encourage all our past and potential stakeholders to contact our club and get on board early".
Stakeholders may contact Lions Havertong, Jessica Vrolijk or Jimmy Challenger for registration via tel. 520-3358, 524-0497 or 523-3587, respectively. As is customary, the club is preparing to arrange provision of refreshments and setting up of "kiddie's corner" for parents wishing to take their children along. Basically the event will remain a family affair, as health awareness is for the young and old alike," said Havertong, adding that the Club would commence a series of marketing initiatives to keep the public abreast of all developments leading up to the fais on March 26.
